[Tennis] Schaerer, Urbanek, Tellez Named All-Americans
SANTEE, Calif. – Three members of the SDC tennis teams were honored by the NAIA as All-Americans on Tuesday.
Sarah Schaerer earned 1st-Team honors with teammate Sarah Urbanek earning 2nd-Team. Schaerer also was named the GSAC Player of the Year and Newcomer of the Year as a freshman.
On the men's side, Alonso Tellez was named to the 2nd-Team after winning GSAC Player of the Year and Newcomer of the Year.
Both teams are finishing off impressive seasons with both advancing to the NAIA National Tournament for the second-straight year. The women's team earned a 7-2 win over Mobile in the First Round before falling to Lindsey Wilson in the Second Round. The men's team fell to Tennessee Wesleyan in the First Round 5-4 and failed to make it to the Second Round for the first time out of three tries.
