[Men's Tennis] Eshenour, Fox Victories Help Williamson Pull Out Win Over Bucks

With Bucks County missing their Sixth singles player, Williamson was leading their match against the Centurions 2-0 before the match even started.  All the Mechanics had to do was win three out of the remaining seven remaining matches and they would defeat their EPAC rival on Wednesday afternoon.

Easier said than done.  Bucks came out strong in Doubles play as they won at Second doubles and had a lead at First doubles before the Williamson tandem of Chris Smith (JR/Tullahoma, TN) and John Coleman (JR/Chichester, PA) rallied from being down 7-6 to come away with a 9-7 victory and put Williamson up, 3-1 heading into Singles play. 

All Williamson had to do was win two of the remaining five Singles matches and victory would be theirs.  Devin Fox (JR/Aston, PA) got them started as he came through with a big 6-2, 6-2 victory at Fifth singles to put Williamson up 4-1.

Things then took a turn for the worse for Williamson as Smith lost at First singles, Coleman lost at Second singles and Steven Nemeth lost at Fourth singles.  The match all came down to Isaac Eshenour (JR/Shippensburg, PA) at Third singles.  All he did was play the best match of his collegiate career, as he rolled to a 6-1, 6-2 victory to give Williamson a huge 5-4 triumph.

"We needed Isaac today and he came through for us," said head coach Curtis Schofield.  "Devin and Isaac have been improving each day and they helped lead us to the win today. 

"I'm proud of them and all the guys.  It was a great win," closed Schofield.

Williamson next takes on Ocean County College on the road on Saturday at noon.
