The Goat’s Surf Forecast

0 2

Surf forecast issued Thursday 9 April 2026: Seven day outlook for Sydney

Fab day for the beach today for the kids and parents on school holidays. A couple more warm days expected, before the temp goes down a little… the contrast will make it feel cooler than it really is. Still pleasant in the water.

The surf looked small but there were a couple of sets from time to time with a fair amount of time in between, that made it look like it might be building a little from far distant TC Vaimau. In fact, there was a surge on the shore with the sets, and people were telling TG that the swell was going to get bigger tomorrow and the next day.

But you know what those TCs can do – basically just not cooperate.

We’ve got a TC (Vaimau) over there (currently planning to slam into NZ’s North Island, >>> definintely pushing some swell in the direction of Oz

We’ve got another Severe TC (Maila) up there ^^^, but of no relevance surfwise to us (at present).

We’ve got a big High out there >>>, pushing Noreasters here  ///

And we’ve got a Low, way down there v v v, that’s intent on sending some W / SW wind and swell up our way….

So right now, we’ve got conflicting signals, countering information, and competing weather systems and features on the horizon, and the mix of all these events keep changing, and are out of the control of those who try to make predictions on outcomes – which usually means no one knows what’s going on!

It’s a bit like current world events really.

But not to worry – these things usually sort themselves out….

From his current observations, expectations of competing power levels, and the general vibe of Everything … TG is not expecting too much of a real impact for us here from things that are far away. What’s he talking about now?!? The Surf of course.     (Or is he just ?????)

Surf outlook

Friday: say 1-1+ meres East North East and similar from the South… ENE could come up a little later on

Saturday: say 1- 1+ metres East, with South West swell pushing against it

Sunday: call it similar

Monday: now this could start to come up in Sydney from dead South say 2ish metres… Note north of Newcastsle swell could be from the East – ie TC NZ whatever

Tuesday: around 2 ish metres from dead South, all the way up the coast to the border (East swell from there northwards)

Wednesday: in the 1-2 metre range dead South

Thursday: easing back a little 1 – 1+ metres dead South.

Interesting isn’t it… And all subject to change…

Keep smiling.

TG.
