Gloomy, rainy, onshore start to Saturday

0 2

Hello Friends,

Up at first light for my weekly radio report and it was instantly obvious this is not a surfing day. From inside the RealSurf wheelhouse at 0630, the rain could be heard falling lightly but steadily. Wind was coming steadily from the SSE at 14-19 kts down at North Head. The MHL data from 0400 showed 1.6 metres of 7-second SSE wind swell.
The rainy area was pretty much hugging the coast, and likely by mid-morning it’ll be into a pattern of occasional showers and grey skies.
Tomorrow looks like being much the same, but perhaps on Easter Monday morning we’ll see better wind conditions and possibly a little easterly wind swell to kick off what could be a run of mainly small (1-1.5 metres), but rideable east-ish bumps for the morning sessions through to Thursday.
Have a great Saturday everyone.

Weather Situation

South to southeasterly winds through the weekend as a weakening trough moves up the coast while a high drifts across Tasmania and enters the Tasman Sea during Sunday. The high will extend a ridge over coastal waters into early next week. Winds are forecast to shift north on Tuesday ahead of the next cold front, which is expected to bring a southerly change in the evening.
