Solid but rainy and murky looking
Hello Friends,
The only people in the water at Dee Why this morning were the competitors in a contest running on the peak just north from the surf club. Wind was coming from the SSW, so in that respect, the surface conditions weren’t too bad. However, as you can see from the pics, it was lumpy and disorganised. The MHL buoy data from 0900 showed 3.4 metres of 10-second south and east swell, so there’s heaps of energy. Unfortunately it really wasn’t working along the beach nor at the point.
At 1100, the wind came around to the south at 16-23 kts. The Bureau tells us to expect it to stay that way through tomorrow. At the same time, the south swell component should be fading overnight but not disappearing on Saturday.
The Goat rolled out his weekly surf forecast last night and, as always, I commend its wisdom to you.
Have a great Friday!
Weather Situation
A trough continues to move through northern waters today bringing fresh to strong and gusty southerly winds in its wake. Winds will ease and tend southeast to northeasterly during the weekend as a high pressure system moves into the Tasman Sea.
