Southerly smashing it

0 1

Hello Friends,

The southerly arrived late yesterday morning, and it’s been blowing hard ever since. As of 0830 the North Head weather station was seeing 26-37 kts from the south. The MHL buoy saw the swell start ramping quickly as the wind arrived and as of 0700 it was 4.7 metres at 11 seconds from the S by SSE. The trend line was still vertical at that point so we may not have reached peak intensity quite yet. Surf prospects are not great. There were a few game types in the water at Manly’s south end where the set wave faces were occasionally head high. Up the beach it was much bigger, but lined up and sideshore to such an extent that no one was out. Curly was a write-off and so was Dee Why.

Tomorrow morning might possibly offer a window of opportunity at north ends as the swell dials back and the wind swings NE for the morning. Wednesday looks like being the best of the week’s offerings with, hopefully, some remnant south swell energy and light winds for the early…

Go well with your Monday one and all.

The only place I saw anyone in the water this morning was at south Manly

Weather Situation

A cold front that has crossed NSW is bringing a southerly wind change that is reaching the northern border this morning. In the wake of the front a high pressure system located over the Bight will extend a ridge over the NSW coast for several days bringing south to southeasterly winds. North to northeasterly winds then return as a the high pressure shifts over the Tasman Sea.
