Smoky and surf getting smaller
Hello Friends,
A kind of weird start for Wednesday. About 1000 km west of us, the temperature is in the upper 40s, but this morning at 0800, it was a mild 20 C at RealSurf HQ. Wind was coming from the north at 7-11 kts and the skies were so smoky that visibility has dropped to around 5 km. I checked the Sydney air quality forecast and they’re saying AQ is Good(!). Surf energy levels have dropped from yesterday. The MHL directional spectrum chart for 0500 was showing 1.4 metres of 11-second SE-SSE coming at us.
The point had a couple of hopefuls, but looked to be maybe chest high on the rare sets. The beach was bigger, but I couldn’t see anyone in the water. So, there should be waves at the magnets this morning, but by the time the NE’r is doing its thing this afternoon, the call is for smaller swell. And that, broadly speaking is how the next few days look – small to marginal, best in the mornings.
A fresh south pulse into the 2+ metre range is still showing in the models for Sunday, but so is the showery weather and southerly wind call.
Go well folks!
Weather Situation
A ridge extends from a high situated in the Tasman Sea. The ridge is expected to be the dominant feature through most of the week, apart from a brief incursion of a weak southerly change midweek, as a series of high pressure systems pass to the south through the week. Then, a cold front looks set to cross the coastal waters Sunday through early next week.
