The Goat
TG’s Sort of Surf Forecast for the Long Weekend and beyond
Media put out by Northern Beaches Council says
https://www.northernbeaches.nsw.gov.au/council/news/media-releases/media-statement-staged-return-to-normal-beach-operations
TG observed today that some beaches were open, while others were closed today. Those closed were due to the sizeable messy swell with rips for swimmers, and or poor visibility due to the sediment swirling around up to 400 m offshore at some beaches and around headlands. Swell size was around 2.5 metres at places open to dead South swell with a 10 second period. While the size has already started to ease back, wave period is staying high, meaning you can expect some sets to come in now and again over a coupla days.
The Southerly wind Friday was keeping the water pretty agitated and generally unattractive, so it will be interesting to see if it calms down enough overnight to settle some places.. Given recent tragic events, poor visibility would seem a heightened consideration to factor in to your and your family’s decisions.
Best to check on a daily basis (see media release) whether conditions at individual beaches are considered safe or not.
Assuming things are deemed “Shark safe” in the current context>>>
The Surf outlook
Saturday: Swell easing back from Friday, say into the 1-2 metre or 1-1+m range South South East… with sets. The ABM has a surf warning up, plus some forecast wind to chop it up .

Monday (Oz Day): Coming up around 2 ish metres South East + surf warning
Tuesday: easing back into the 1-2 metre range South East

Have a Great, Happy, Safe Australia Day Long Weekend!
Celebrate and enjoy the country’s many good things with your family and friends.
Could be improvements? Sure…
Like TG’ s school teachers used to regularly write on his reports, “Can do better”.
TG says: Yngh!
As the daily news shows us, there are a damn sight lot of places in the world that are worse!
