Wild and Woolly this morning
Hello Friends,
It’s unsurfable at most locations in Sydney this morning. And where you could possibly get in, the water’s more likely than not to be polluted from the overnight rain running off our streets to the sea.
At 0700 the wind was 12-16 kts from the SE. The MHL buoy’s 0400 data update showed 3.6 metres of 12-second energy from the SE. That’s right in line with the forecast (see below).
The stiff SE wind and SE swell is set to continue through Monday. Swell’s due to drop into the 2 metre range by then, but it looks like staying around that size for the rest of the week. However, if the weather models are right, it would appear that the wind will stay southerly too.
Here’s hoping for the odd window of opportunity by Wednesday…
Weather Situation
Strong to gale force southeasterly winds over the New South Wales coast in the wake of a trough and low moving off the south coast. The trough and low will then track north. Then, a high pressure system will move into the south Tasman Sea, maintaining fresh to strong southeasterly winds over coastal waters.
