Small and messy morning

0 3

Hello Friends,

Thursday kicked off with partly cloudy skies and 10-15 kts of NE-NNE wind. As of 0600, the MHL buoy was detecting 1.5 metres of 5.7 second SE wind bump. There weren’t any surfers in the water at the Dee Why end of the beach. If you’re really keen, there should be the occasional wave around the corner at Curly, but expect very disorganised and lumpy, sloppy conditions.

As you can see from the Bureau’s forecast below, swell energy levels are going to ramp up significantly tomorrow. The wind call is for a swing to the southerly quarters in the morning. At least one model is predicting it to be SSW for the early, so, possibly, we could see reasonable conditions for an hour or two either side of daybreak. Maybe.

The Goat’s been a busy boy lately, so I’m hoping he’ll get a gap in the schedule to share his deep surf wisdom with us about the coming week. This morning’s swell models are looking very much as they have for the last few days, ie big and windy.

Go well with your Thursday!

Weather Situation

A weak ridge lies over the New South Wales coast, maintaining an onshore east to northeasterly airstream. Winds will increase fresh to strong on Thursday, before a trough enters the south coast and develops into a low pressure system on Friday, bringing strong to gale force southeasterly winds in its wake as it tracks north. Then, a high pressure system will move into the south Tasman Sea, maintaining fresh to strong southeasterly winds over coastal waters.
