Near flat this morning

0 1

Hello Friends,

No surf for you today at Dee Why. At 0600 the MHL buoy was detecting a metre of 6-secon NE wind bump. And that was translating into ankle to knee-high dribble. If you’re really keen, you should be able to find something barely catch-able at a NE magnet. The wind will follow the usual summer pattern and be 15-25 kts from the NE by around lunchtime.

The good news is that we’re probably at the nadir of the surf cycle. The latest projections from NSW Nearshore Wave Tool show a slight uptick in wave size over the weekend. I’m not expecting much because the average period will still be short. I’ll be interested to see what the Goat thinks.

Have a top old Thursday.

Weather Situation

Onshore north to northeasterly winds along the coast will continue to freshen through this week as a high over the Tasman Sea strengthens. A cold front and its associated trough will cross the coastal areas during the weekend, bringing a fresh to strong southerly wind change in their wake.
