Happy New Year
Hello Friends,
As we bid welcome to 2026, here’s hoping the year ahead is a good one.
As the Goat said in his first 2026 surf forecast, it was a good morning to sleep in after last night’s festivities.
Wind was around to the SSE at 17-22 kts by 0700, and it was raining lightly on and off. The MHL data snapshot at 0800 showed 3.3 metres of 13-second ESE energy. That long period energy translates to powerful, but not very frequent sets. As you can see from the pictures, surf quality ranged from unapproachable, wind-blown, lined-up shutdowns along the open stretches, to sloppy, but biggish sets for the protected corners. And it doesn’t look like conditions will improve today.
The swell will be on the fade tomorrow, but the wind should be light for the early and the weather partly cloudy.
Have a good one!
