Busy but there are waves if you’re keen
Hello Friends,
You snooze, you lose on a day like today. At daybreak the wind was offshore, but by the time your summer-mode correspondent got around to checking conditions after 0900, the wind had come around to the SSE. That’s exactly what the Bureau said would happen of course. By the time I grabbed the snap, the conditions were looking pretty lumpy and bumpy for the healthy crowd at the point. Waves looked to be in the waist-ish high range and not particularly juicy.
The MHL buoy was detecting 1.6 metres of an 8-second period south swell as of 0700. And first tide of the day is the low at 1010.
Prospects look reasonable for the rest of the year. Swell should pick up a little today and then get into the 2-ish metre range by Wednesday, plus the wind call is for light and variable breezes early.
Go well with your Monday everyone.
Weather Situation
A fresh to strong southerly surge is moving north along the coast today following the earlier passage of a cold front over the Tasman Sea. A high pressure ridge along the coast will maintain south to southeast winds along much of the northern coast for the first half of this week, whist winds tend east to northeast along much of the southern coast ahead of another front that crosses Tasmania and moves over the Tasman Sea. Another fresh to possibly strong southerly surge moves north along the coast on Wednesday following the second front.
