Waves around for the early
Hello Friends,
A mild and pretty morning as the final Saturday of 2025 started. There’s some south swell too. At 0600 the MHL buoy was seeing 1.7 metres of 11 second straight south swell. As the picture indicate, that meant long, shutting down waist to chest-high walls for the open stretches, and only the very occasional knee to waist-ish set at the point.
Wind was SSW 8-12 kts at 0830, but it’ll go southerly soon and wind speeds will be 20-25 kts by this evening. The southerly will last into Monday, but so will the swell, and the early sessions should be reasonably clean ahead of the wind ramping up by mid-morning.
There’s still a solid 2+metre ESE swell on the cards for New Year’s Day, along with SSW wind for the early…
Go well with your Saturday!
Weather Situation
Southerly winds are prevailing as a strong high pressure system near Tasmania extends a ridge over the coastal waters. Winds are forecast to remain southerly into the weekend, while gradually easing, as the high slowly moves southeast, entering the southern Tasman Sea by the weekend.
