Sunny start and little south lines
Hello Friends,
Christmas Eve kicked off with a fading south pulse delivering the occasional chest-high set at Dee Why. There were lots of people in the water along the beach north from the club and surface conditions were looking textured but inviting. While it’s good to see some energy, the banks are very much in summer mode – ie minimal. So, when we get a lined up swell, the shutdowns dominate and the corners are few and far between.
As of 0830 the wind was 7-11 kts from the north. It’ll swing to the NE before long and be a summery 15-20 kts around the time you’re thinking of lunch. Swell out at sea was 1.3 metres at 8-9 seconds from the SSE. Water temp’s on 22°C. High tide is 1.76 m at 1150. Weather should be sunny with a high of 29°C and UV will be extreme until after about 1630.
Tomorrow’s shaping to be showery and with a high of just 21°C along with stiff 20-30 kt southerly wind. Swell should start to pick up and Boxing Day is forecast to see 2-3 metres south energy – along with 14-25 kts of south wind, sadly.
Not sure if his Goatness’s busy schedule will permit a Christmas forecast, but I’m hoping that if it does, he’ll have glad tidings for the weekend….
Go well!
