Smoky Tuesday

0 32

Hello Friends,

I had to dial up the haze filter for today’s picture (see below for an unfiltered example). Looking at the regional air quality data, it would seem that the worst conditions are along the coast today. Surf conditions are in line with expectations, which is to say, it’s very small, but not flat. Dee Why is looking pretty marginal, but given that the swell was 1.4 metres from the NE at 7 seconds, better exposures should be seeing the odd waist- to chest-high wave faces. Wind was coming lightly from the west as of 0800, but it’s going to swing to the SE as it picks up to 15-20 kts.

From tomorrow we’ll be back to cloudy and southerly conditions. By Thursday the forecast is for showery weather, south wind and SE wind swell. Friday currently looks slightly more hopeful as the models show a 1.5 metre, 12 second east swell arriving. The wind call is for light onshores and the weather should still be rainy, so it’s not exactly re-jig the schedule quality. Some of the modelling for Saturday indicates partly cloudy weather and light offshores with 10-second east swell…

Catch you again tomorrow!

Weather Situation

A ridge is strengthening over coastal areas in the wake of a front, before a trough brushes central and southern parts of the coast later today and on Wednesday, bringing a southerly change with it. High pressure will build in the Tasman Sea later in the week, bringing east to northeasterly winds to coastal waters.
