Another beautiful but near flat morning
Hello Friends,
Once again, conditions are perfect but there’s no swell at Dee Why this morning. At 0400 the MHL buoy was seeing 1.2 metres from the south at 8 seconds apart. Wind was westerly at 8-12 kts at report writing time. It’ll swing to the NE this afternoon and at the same time the Bureau says the swell will come up a little. I wouldn’t expect much change though. The models continue to point toward a gradual increase in energy levels as we head into the weekend but if the NSW Nearshore model has it right, the average periods won’t improve much. Plus the wind call is for onshore wind and showery through to Sunday. Next week could see an extended period of 1-2 metres of 8-10 second east wind swell along with light northerly winds in the morning. Here’s hoping.
Have yourself a fine Tuesday everyone.
Weather Situation
A ridge extends across the state from the west. Fresh northeasterly winds will develop later today as the ridge extends to the Tasman Sea and a high pressure system forms within it. The next trough will cross the southern and central parts of the coast midweek and will bring another south to southeasterly wind change in its wake, before stalling about Hunter or Mid North Coast later in the week.
