Surfless Sunday morning at Dee Why
Hello Friends,
We kicked off Sunday with cloudy skies, a light WSW breeze and 1.4 metres of 6-sec period wind chop from the ENE. As the picture shows, no surfers were observable from RealSurf HQ this morning. That means any waves will be in the knee high range at best (the angle of view from the crows nest is such that I can only see the water from about 20 metres off the sand, so there can be people in the water chasing ankle to knee high shories). Looking at Surfline’s cams, I see that Curly and similar exposures are getting waist plusses. So not totally hopeless!
Outlook is for the little easterly wind bump to fade tomorrow and for a brief south pulse in the waist to chest-ish range at magnets on Tuesday (along with SW wind). Thereafter the swell models are showing more short period east to SE stuff in the 1.5 metre range through to Friday. Beyond that, next weekend currently looks like offering 9-10 sec east energy in the 1.5 metre zone, but with light but steady onshores.
Kinda typical spring surf conditions really.
Go well with your Sunday everyone!
Weather Situation
Northerly winds ahead of an inland trough approaching the coast during Sunday. A south to southwesterly wind change will spread north along the coast as the trough moves offshore late Sunday and during Monday. Clearer conditions from Tuesday as a ridge of high pressure extends across the central New South Wales coast, then moderate to fresh northerly winds developing into the midweek period ahead of the next trough.
