Another day of micro-ness
Hello Friends,
This morning saw only the tiniest trickle of wave energy wafting in from the NE. As of 0600 the MHL buoy was detecting 1.5 metres of 6-second wind bump from 52°. The wind was 6-9 kts from the north as of 0900. There’s a strong wind warning though, and that means we’ll have 20-30 kts of NE’r by this afternoon. The harder it blows, the more it induces up-welling of the cooler sub-surface water. The satellite tells us that it’s about 19 C now, so I’d be sticking with whatever rubber coverage you used last time you went for a surf.
Being a Friday, we have the latest week-ahead surf outlook thoughts to consider from the one and the only Goat. As always, I commend them to you.
Have a great Friday!
Weather Situation
Fresh north to northeasterly winds ahead of a cold front and its associated trough that will move across the coastal waters during the weekend, bringing a fresh and gusty southerly wind change in its wake. Winds will briefly turn east to northeasterly early next week as another high pressure ridge drifts across the state, then the next cold front will move across the coast on Tuesday through early Wednesday next week, with another southwesterly wind change after its passage.
