Quiet finish to Friday

0 5

Hello Friends,

Finally had a chance to write a quick note on conditions. As Friday bows out, the conditions at Dee Why were so undistinguished that not a single optimist could be seen in the water at 6pm. There were waves around earlier in the day, but 12-16 kts of NE wind and gathering storm clouds were making it very unattractive for a late one. Swell at sea was a mix of short period NE wind bump and some 9-ish second south energy.

Tomorrow morning promises to be cloudy light wind early and 7-ish second NE windswell in the 1.5 metre range. It shouldn’t be flat, but I’m guessing the quality will be sub-par.  Sunday doesn’t look much better as swell stays east and wind is light from the south for the morning session before swinging NE in the afternoon. Again, not totally hopeless, but I’m not hopping up and down with stoke. Some of the modelling is showing a little perk into the 2-ish metre range from the east with maybe NW wind early and sunny skies…

Go well!

Weather Situation

Winds are generally light along the coast as an offshore trough remains pinned between two high pressure systems over the Tasman Sea and Bass Strait. The trough is forecast to move away from the coastal water during Saturday as an approaching cold front pushes it offshore. Fresh northerly winds ahead of this front are expected to shift to a gusty southerly change as the cold front reaches the coast during Tuesday.
