The Goat’s Surf Forecast

Surf forecast issued Thursday  30 October 2025: Seven day outlook for Sydney

Crikey – you go away for a month or so and the Bureau of Meteorology has a mid-life crisis and decides it needs a “Makeover”.

And so The Goat returned from more “familiar” visages in Norway, Sweden, Denmark etc to find he needed to spend days just trying to find the local weather info he’s been used to digesting in his inbuilt supercomputer for years.

I don’t know about you – well I guess I do from the complaints the BoM is reportedly getting – but you shouldn’t have to spend any time searching around a new website for the info that was previously easily accessible on the front page of the old website.  I’m sure that it’s all there, somewhere, and there could be some additional useful info too, but you shouldn’t have to look for it. Even TG doesn’t have time for that.

Anyhoo.. below vvv is some info he’s found so far.. along with other more familiar stuff.

Today (Thursday), at 3pm the MHL buoy was showing 1.68 metres of 9.77 second swell but the predominantly onshore (cool) wind made for choppy conditions, so TG didn’t see more than 1 punter having a go. Didn’t see any whales today but they have been steaming down in droves.

The Surf Outlook for the week ahead conditionwise is looking a bit all over the place (tempting to draw comparisions), but there will be waves all week of varying quality. subject to changing daily wind directions (which hopefully you’ll find under ‘Weather’ below),

Conditions are likely to be best in the mornings before the wind gets up~~~~~

Friday: easing back a bit from today, to around 1-1+ metres at places open to dead South

Saturday: ditto

Sunday: ditto East

Monday: ditto ditto

Tuesday: ditto ditto

Wednesday: ditto ditto

Thursday: ditto North East
