Back home to pretty little waves

0 6

Hello Friends,

On the Northern Beaches once again and after a rainy yesterday, this morning saw sunny conditions before 0900. Wind was out of the WSW at 5-6 kts and the 0600 MHL data was showing 1.8 metres of 10-second energy from 166° (ie SSE). Tide was just hitting the 0850 0.47 m low around the time I was taking the pictures. It’ll be back to the 1.49 m high at 1520 – when the wind will likely be 10-15 kts from the easterly quarters.

Waves were in the waist to chest-ish range on the sets at the most optimally aligned exposures. This looks like a day for picking a peak on one of the open stretches. Water might be a bit sketchy after the rain and temperature is currently sitting on 20 C.

A glance at the swell models suggests that we could pretty much have fun-size waist to chest plusses for the morning sessions well into next week. Weather is set to be showery now and again across the coming 7 days.

So good to be home again.

Easterly winds are gradually turning north to northeasterly as a trough off the southeast Queensland coast moves further offshore, while a high pressure system to the south of the state enters the Tasman Sea and continues tracking east towards New Zealand. Then, a trough brushing southern and central coastal waters on Saturday will bring a brief incursion of southerly winds.
