Junky little waves for the keen
Hello Friends,
A more-cloudy-than-not morning for Friday along the beaches. But, as you can see from the snaps, surf conditions were scrappy and tiny at Dee Why. Wind was 6-9 kts from the west at 0800 and out at sea, the MHL buoy data from 0700 was showing 1.5 metre, 7-second period energy coming from the east. I’d call the waves at Dee Why this morning knee to waist on the sets. People were struggling to get into them thanks to the short period nature of the conditions. So, yeah, you could get in on another chilly morning with the odd passing shower, but most of us will pass.
If you’re wondering about our surf prospects for the coming week, I’m happy to advise you that the Mighty Goat rolled out another of his whimsical but wise predictions last night. Check it out here.
I’m feeling pretty cheerful this morning because a few days before the RealSurf monthly server bills come due a generous RealSurfer dropped some coin in our wildly-underpromoted GoFundMe yesterday. So big shout out to you fine Joel! Many thanks. Please have a look at the GoFundMe when you get a chance – and be like Joel.
Go well!
Weather Situation
A high pressure system over the Tasman Sea extends a ridge over the state. A series of strong cold fronts then look set to cross the state on Friday through the weekend. The winds will then tend north to northwesterly on Friday as a front approaches from the west before shifting west to southwesterly on Saturday following the passage of the front. Strong winds are possible for southern coastal waters in association with this front.
