Stormy Saturday
Hello Friends,
The best thing you could say about conditions this morning was that the swell was building. But that’s about it. Surface conditions at first light were very choppy thanks to the E-ESE 15-25 kt wind. It was raining steadily and the weather radar showed lots more of the wet stuff inbound from offshore. Looks like a top old day to stay warm and dry inside.
Outlook for tomorrow is similar, with more SE wind and more rain. Not that it’s likely to matter much, but the swell’s set to be a mix of 3-4 metre east and 2-ish metre south energy.
Monday is going to be big again with SE wind, so probably only a possibility in protected south corners for the super-fit hell-persons.
Mid-week, on the other hand, could possibly be epic as the heavy swell continues but the wind dials back…
Stay warm, stay dry!
Weather Situation
A trough currently over the north and central coasts is forecast to deepen to a coastal low pressure system off the north coast today, bringing vigorous south to southeasterly winds and large powerful waves along the northern and central parts of the coast. The low is forecast to slowly move offshore during Sunday and Monday.
