Junky little waves this morning
Hello Friends,
A rather dull start to Tuesday along the beaches. Wind was coming from the north at 7-12 kts and a 1.5 m, 9.8 sec east swell was making itself felt. Waves looked to be in the waist-plus range and messy thanks to the raw quality of the swell plus the sideshore wind. But it definitely wasn’t flat. That said, there doesn’t appear to be much hope of any improvement to the quality today.
Tomorrow looks like being a maybe slightly bigger version of today, but with more favourable SW wind from midday. And Thursday might be better again as we start with SW wind and a mix of south and E-NE metre-ish swell. The weather is expected to be partly cloudy with a chance of showers tomorrow, but sunny on Thursday.
The long range outlook is for conditions to broadly continue at the current intensity into next week. However, this moring both the ECMWF and GFS models are predicting a solid 3 metre south pulse for next Thursday morning. That’s a long way out, so I wouldn’t be re-arranging the schedule just yet.
Have a great Tuesday everyone!
Weather Situation
Northerly winds are freshening as a ridge of high pressure over the coastal waters gradually contracts eastwards ahead of a cold front that is poised to cross the coastal water on Wednesday. The front will bring a west to southwesterly wind change in its wake and will be followed by a high pressure system drifting across the coast. Then, a cut-off low pressure system looks set to develop over the Bight later this week and moves towards Tasmania, with its associated cold front crossing the coastal waters during the weekend.
