The Goat’s Surf Forecast

0 15

Surf Forecast issued Thursday 3 July 2025: Seven day outlook for Sydney

TG was at the beach telling anyone who would listen: Those waves have got to be around 10 times overhead!

Naturally people were ignoring him, until someone realised he wasn’t talking about People’s Overhead size >>>

Then they still ignored him anyway.

The waves weren’t that big, but from his 50 cm in his shoes, anything looks big.

You can never estimate size for sure, even when someone is out there (which there was not). That’s why we have the MHL Waverider buoy. It’s saying currently around 3-4, 5-6 m offshore coming at an angle that’s from the South South East. Period is over 11 seconds. The wind has been pushing it over a long distance, from the bottom of NZ across the Tasman to you – so it’s swinging waves ashore at the open places..

It’s down from yesterday’s mess, and it looks like it’ll go down a little tomorrow, then go down pretty quickly as the Low/s move away. But right now it’s still a mess. Best guess was about 3ish-4 out the back today with a lot of messy whitewater pushing in from there to the beach. And choppy, river size, rips pouring out..

No place for People or Goats.

Whales that had any sense would have been hanging around sheltered harbours while the big blow was on (there were gusts over 100 kph) so the winter migration will start up again as the sea calms down

Friday: around 2-3. 3+m sets from South East

Saturday: somewhere around 2 m/ 1-2 metre range South East

Sunday: somewhere in the 1-2 metre range South East

Monday: down to around 1 ish metres or so

Tuesday: dittoish at places open to dead South

Wednesday: ditto or smaller

Thursday: ditto.

Stay warm. Stay well. Stay safe.. and Have Fun!

TG.
