Gale warning with rain too
Hello Friends,
Early this morning my phone pinged with a message from Sydney Water that said “Partially treated discharge at Warriewood at 0138hrs, 18th May 2025. Flows receiving wet weather treatment”. Given the intensity of rainfall overnight at RealSurf HQ, I wasn’t surprised to see that my rain gauge showed 56.6mm since midnight.
Although there’s a gale warning, as of 0900 the wind was lightly offshore and out at sea the swell was 2.7 metres at 9 seconds from the south. The wind will ramp soon and with it the swell energy. The little window of semi-clean conditions at Dee Why will shut anytime now.
The Bureau’s hoisted the ‘large and powerful surf conditions’ pennant for the next three days, so there’ll be energy, but quality’s another thing. There aren’t many options for tomorrow given the SE wind prediction, but as the wind starts to dial back, Tuesday could possibly come together. Maybe. It’s going to be rainy through Tuesday and temps aren’t expected to get above 16 between now and Saturday, so you’ll want to be keen in any event.
Have a top old day everyone!
Weather Situation
A cold front is bringing fresh south to southwesterly winds to the coastal waters from tonight. Winds will turn southeasterly and strengthen as a coastal trough off the NSW coast deepens from late Sunday, bringing fresh to strong and gusty winds to central and northern parts of the coast. early next week. This system may re-intensify later in the week, with the strongest winds dependent on its location.
