Stormy Monday

0 6

Hello Friends,

After waiting out another downpour, I swung aloft to the RealSurf crows nest and grabbed a few snaps of the situation at around 0830. As you can see, the ocean’s looking pretty rugged. The south wind kicked in around 1100 yesterday, blew all night and as of 0830 was SSW at 12-20 kts. Out at sea the swell’s 3.5 metres at 8 seconds from the SE. That translated into solidly overhead sets at Dee Why point. Unfortunately the chaotic surface conditions, short-ish period and even the incoming tide were not making it easy for those hardy units who’d paddled out.

We’re in for another couple of days – at least – of southerly wind plus a combo of E-ESE and south swell in the 2ish metre range Tuesday and then 3ish metres Wednesday. The Bureau tells us the rainy, showery weather – along with generally southerly wind – will continue through to Sunday.

A nice sunny break has opened up while I’ve been writing this, so in that spirit I wish you a good Monday!

Weather Situation

A complex low pressure system lies off the Mid North Coast and is expected to weaken and move further away to the east during Monday. On Tuesday, a cold front will move along the southern waters then weaken to a trough on Wednesday, which will continue to move north while a ridge of high pressure develops in its wake. This ridge will maintain a fresh to strong southerly flow along the New South Wales coast for the remainder of the week.
