Waves on Anzac Day
Hello Friends,
After a shower to start Anzac day along the beaches, we started seeing a few sunny breaks. As of 0900 the wind was coming lightly from the NW and the offshore buoys were seeing 1.3 metres of 10-second east swell. As the picture above shows, that was translating into waist to chest high waves at Dee Why for the happy crowd in the water.
As always, the Mighty Goat has studied the portents and pronounced upon our surf prospects for the coming week. I commend his surf wisdom unto you.
Eric Bogle’s The Band Played Waltzing Matilda is always on my Anzac Day playlist. This version by the great June Tabor is a hauntingly beautiful rendition.
Lest we forget.
Weather Situation
A trough lies off the northern coastal waters, while high pressure system extends a ridge over the southern coastal waters bringing north to northeasterly winds. Behind the ridge, a trough is forecast to cross the coastal waters and may form a low offshore on Sunday, driving a fresh and gusty southerly change on Sunday. The low is expected to move further east on Monday, driving a fresh south to southwesterly flow.
