Back to tiny after all the excitement
Hello Friends,
A pleasant Easter Monday morning along the beaches, but the waves are all gone. The swell at sea was 0.8 metres at 10 seconds and coming mainly from the SE. As you can see from the pics, that was translating into very tiny waves. From RealSurf HQ it looked to be around knee to maybe waist high. Wind was coming from the north at 4-6 kts as of 0800. It’s expected to accelerate to 10-15 kts later and then to swing SW after lunch. It was partly cloudy when I took the snaps, but the Bureau calculates that we have a 70% chance of showers today.
Tomorrow’s weather call is for SE wind and a 95% chance of showers with no significant change on the swell front. It looks as though we’re in for an extended run of showery weather, with the current forecast showing it continuing through next Sunday. Surf opportunities don’t look great for the next couple of days. From here it seems we might have some metre-plus east swell by Friday and, if some models have it right, it could gradually build into the 2-ish metre range by next Monday.
Go well!
Weather Situation
A cold front is moving through the southern waters bringing unsettled weather and a southerly change. This weather will extend to the remainder of the coast today as the cold front is forecast to form a low pressure system offshore, affecting the coast until mid week. After this, the system is expected to weaken to a trough and be driven away by a high pressure system moving east along the Southern Ocean.
