Busy with occasional sets
Hello Friends,
After another day of solid swell on Saturday, the energy levels have clearly faded this morning. At 0800 the swell out at sea was around 1.4 metres at 8-11 seconds from the ESE. So, the odd shoulder-high set was still rolling in to the delight of the holiday weekend crowd at Dee Why. But the waits are getting longer. Wind was 5-7 kts from the WNW at 0730 – just before the low tide at 0745. The high at 1335 is only about 50 cm higher. By then the wind should be 15-20 kts from the NW to the NE.
Today’s going to be sunny with an unseasonable 29 high, but tomorrow we’re back to showers and rain through to next weekend. There should be a small wave for the early Monday and maybe Tuesday. The models are showing a 3+ metre south pulse midweek but it’ll be accompanied by strong SE wind,
Have a great day everyone!
Weather Situation
A ridge of high pressure extends across the east of the state while a deep low pressure system lies over the southeastern Tasman Sea, bringing powerful swells to coastal waters. A cold front and associated trough move across southern water during Monday driving a southerly change and unsettled conditions before forming a new low pressure system over the Tasman Sea, remaining to early Wednesday before it is expected to be driven away from the coast by a weak high pressure ridge mid week.
