Showery, messy and size
Hello Friends,
Quite the morning out there. Another shower was just sweeping across Dee Why as I grabbed the pictures in the 15-26 kts of SW wind from atop RealSurf HQ. They tell the story I think. There were a couple of bods in the water at the point, but it was so chaotic and lumpy that I don’t think they’ll be catching much. The 0500 MHL data showed a broad area of swell energy from the SW around to the east, but the most intense stuff was coming from dead south at 4.8 metres with a 10-second period. So, as expected, Monday’s looking eminently skippable.
I’m about to take off for a week up the coast. The weather’s not looking great, but it definitely won’t be flat here or up there. The really big stuff looks like lasting through tomorrow and into Wednesday. But it should still be a solid 2 metres or so on Thursday am and only a bit smaller again Friday.
I’ll report in at irregular intervals, but expect postcards of some sort most days!
Stay safe and go well!
Weather Situation
A low pressure system is deepening in the Tasman Sea east of the Illawarra bringing vigorous south to southeasterly winds and large waves to the southern and central coastal waters. This system is expected to gradually move east in the coming days, with gradually easing conditions. A new trough is expected to form over the far northern waters on Wednesday.
