Dull and onshore
Hello Friends,
Another day of showery skies for Sydney. Wind was ESE 10-15 kt at 0800 and the MHL buoy was detecting 1.5 metres from the S by SSW at 12 seconds apart. That swell angle ensures most of the swell power is headed away from the coast – as the picture above shows. And, unsurprisingly, no one was in the water, apart from a single hopeful who paddled out while I was getting the picture.
From the look of the latest marine forecast, we’re in for a very windy weekend with gales and potentially heavy rain tomorrow and 25-35 kts of SW on Sunday as the swell builds and the rainy stuff dials back.
As for the week ahead, the one and the only, the Mighty Goat, has mulled the portents, cast the runes and pronounced on the surf week to come.
Have a top old Friday everyone!

Weather Situation
South to southeasterly winds will turn northeasterly and increase from today as a high pressure system moves into the Tasman Sea and a trough extends into western New South Wales. This trough and its associated low are forecast to move southeast, reaching the Tasman Sea on Saturday where the low is forecast to deepen before moving away and generate southerly winds and large waves in its wake.
