It’s a lake this morning
Hello Friends,
Saturday dawned with cloudy skies, 10-14 kts of SSW wind and a near-flat ocean. The MHL buoy was detecting 1.4 metres of 5-second SSW (!) wind bump out at sea. So, not only is it really tiny, but the tiny trickle of wave energy we do have is heading out to sea.
The marine forecast offers no real prospect of a significant improvement to the surf. Tomorrow and Monday are set to be onshore, cloudy and tiny to flat. It looks from the swell models as though our next hope of a wave could be midweek when there’s the possibility of long-period but small SSE pulse. Both the ECM and GFS models project a rainy end of the week with southerly wind and more short-period wave energy.
Biding our time surfers, biding our time.
Go well!

Weather Situation
A trough and its associated southerly change is moving north and will reach the north coast today before weakening, then a ridge of high pressure will extend across the south and east while a trough remains inland. Very little change is expected through the outlook days apart from the series of troughs brushing the coast with another coastal southerly wind changes in the wake. The next change will brush the south coast on Monday, then the following one looks set to sweep the coast mid to late next week.
