Still scrappy and blergh this morning
Hello Friends,
Another miss-able day for Sydney surfers. The wind’s been ESE since yesterday evening, so as you can see from the pictures, the ocean is not looking inviting. At 0400 the 2 metre swell was coming from the east at 10 seconds apart.
There’s nothing in the forecasts and swell models to suggest a significant reprieve for us before Tuesday. The wind’s due to go around to the NE tomorrow, so that may possibly mean a few north corner options. But I’m not holding my breath.
Hang in there folks! And best wishes to our friends up north currently contending with the cyclone aftermath.
Forecast issued at 4:10 am EDT on Saturday 8 March 2025.
Weather Situation
Tropical Cyclone Alfred [982 hPa] is moving slowly towards the southeast Queensland coast, forecast to make a coastal crossing early this morning, before dissipating. This system is bringing gale winds about the far north coast, and large powerful east to northeasterly swells. Winds and surf conditions will gradually ease later on Saturday after Alfred makes landfall and weakens while heading inland, with a ridge of high pressure developing along the east coast of New South Wales.
