The Goat’s Surf Forecast
Surf forecast issued Thursday 6 March 2025: Seven day outlook for Sydney
TG said: Every dog and his man should know about TC Alfred by now~~ As forewarned last week, Tropical Cyclones can be unpredictable, and Alfred has changed direction (including taking a dramatic hard right towards Brisbane) and speed, and expert forecasters are trying to stay ahead of him..
How Alfred impacts on various locations will obviously depend on his actual behaviour. Earlier in the week he was expected to cross the coast Thursday night; now expected to cross onto land and become a Low/ Ex TC, Saturday morning.
Keep track of latest expectations here>>>

The past week, Good large though muddy waves were ridden from Yeppoon! to the Goldie. Currently looks a mess up there with wind.
And of course there’s safety warnings galore for gale force winds, heavy rainfall, flooding, storm surge and coastal erosion for the potential impact zone from Double Island Point Qld to Yamba and Grafton NSW, and inland Northern Rivers… not to be ignored.
In Sydney, there were a small number out late at DY Point, but everywhere else was messy and windblown with no one out.
Lots of rips everywhere.. not the place for swimmers.
For those who like precision with their cornflakes, at 5pm 10 ks off Sydney it was 2.392 m 10.83 seconds at 100 degrees (pretty Eastish)
Surf Outlook
Friday: say around 2 – 2+ metres North East
Saturday: ditto
Sunday: 1.5 – 2 metres North East
Monday: similar
Tuesday: back to 2 – 2+ metres North East
Wednesday: similar
Thursday: 1.5 – 2 metres
All pretty much depending on how long and strong he stays out over the sea sucking up warm water (see Queensland water temps map below – might suggest why he took a hard right toward Brissie) and which direction Alfred goes (might even head back say NW??)
News reports to date of his actions show limited positive benefits, causing a great deal of concern among many people, creating uncertainty for millions of people and businesses, widespread collateral damage with more expected… And that’s just TC Alfred!
Got a drone phot0 from Lee and Matt of the paddle out for Jeff Annersley at North Av. It was really great on the day to see over a hundred in the water and more on the shore to celebrate Jeff’s life, along with Lee, Matt, Nigel and the rest of the family. He touched the lives of many people of all ages. One described him as a real gentleman. Jeff was a good mate and he’ll be fondly remembered by many.
To all our friends and everyone in SEQ and NNSW, take care and stay safe.
TG.
