The Goat’s Surf Forecast
Surf forecast issued Thursday 23 January 2025: Seven day outlook for Sydney
Perfect day…for doing just about anything but surfing. Pleasant temp.. sunny then cloudy, but still warm. Waves at times of varying size but choppy from the wind, then not really improving in lighter airs.
Like variety in your life??
Stick around – some warm days ahead, mild days, windy days. Blowing one way, then the other, and then (almost) both ways together!
And so, the Surf.. First a word about wave heights, accuracy and stuff like that~~
TG would just like to remind all you Kool Kcats, that if you want some kind of pseudo accuracy in your surf forecasts, linger here no longer….
Today Accurate height for a second of so at 2pm Hsig was 2.086 metres, 8.17 sec from 166 degrees (SE).,, 10 kilometres off Long Reef.
But note also that just during today. Hmax offshore ranged from approx 2.5 metres, then increased up to 6 metres, then dropped back to 4 metres, while Hsig went from about 1.3m, to 3 m, and back to 2 metres.. That was just up until 2pm.
You could subscribe to a pay site and get those sorts of automated, seemingly accurate details… and complain when that automated forecast of 12 metre swell doesn’t turn up on your beach!
Or you can get TGs for free.
Basically it’s a choice between AI … or GI :)~~~The choice is yours.
The Outlook according to TG is
Friday : somewhere in the 1-2 metre range at places open to South East swell
Saturday : around 1-1+ metres at dead South spots (only)
Sunday : a bit smaller dead South
Monday : up a tad .. say around 1 ish metres dead South
Tuesday : ditto but from North East
Wednesday; arond 1-1+metres South East as the wind picks up
Thursday: around 1 metre or less
You best chance for a decent wave will be when lighter winds are forecast by the BoM.
If you’re looking for accuracy in measuring a constantly moving, changing means of having fun, you won’t find it here. Soak up the Vibe~~~
Stay cool. Have Fun!
