Southerly below 1 metre.
Hello Friends,
A return to sunny weather for Saturday. And no, the waves haven’t magically appeared contrary to all the predictions. The BoM and the forecast models are right again.
The MHL buoy was seeing 0.9 metres of 13-second energy from the SSE as of 0600. Given the interval, I’d say the best south exposures could be seeing the odd waist-ish high thing. Unfortunately the NE wind was beginning to do its thing by 1000, so any hope of a clean face has vanished until tomorrow morning’s dawn patrol.
From the look of the models, conditions are going to remain puny well into next week. For what it’s worth both the GFS and the ECMWF models are still showing a small east to SE wind swell and light onshores for Thursday’s early session.
Your correspondent will be wandering across SE Australia for the next fortnight, so expect sporadic notes and maybe the odd postcard on the site until mid month.
Go well!
Weather Situation
A high pressure system off Gippsland Coast is drifting east towards Tasman Sea, directing onshore easterly winds. Winds will shift northerly and become fresh during the weekend as the high moves slowly over the central Tasman Sea. Then, a cold front and its associated trough are forecast to enter the south coast on Monday and continue heading north, reaching the north coast by Tuesday, bringing a fresh and gusty southerly wind change in its wake.
