QUATRO CUBE 6 86L: 2025 TEST REVIEW

THE VERDICT

The Quatro Cube 6 offers ultimate ease of use blended with riding performance. The Cube 6 is a versatile weapon, which makes the most of onshore waves with its ability to grip and remain composed, while still turning tightly for snappy turns. Its lightness makes it more intuitive and allows the rider to lead the way.

THE LOWDOWN

The Cube 6 features a subtle washed-out grey and white finish, revealing parts of the layup on the top, along with a washed-out yellow that adds a spark of colour to a grey onshore wave. At first glance, the Cube 6 might appear slightly unfinished and unassuming as it sits on the beach, but don’t be fooled… the Cube 6 has been reworked, beginning with a reduction in overall weight. It incorporates KT Surfing’s single-to-dual-density traction pads, which are segmented and sloped, as well as custom-made Quatro US fin boxes, water transfer graphics, and carved-out holes in the rear kick pad. These are just a few of the highlights that contribute to the weight reduction. This, in turn, improves the overall balance of the Cube 6, which is immediately noticeable when you hold it. It promises intuitive and responsive riding once on the water. When inspecting the hull, you’ll notice that Quatro has upgraded the Cube with a new V-Double to Single Concave bottom shape, increasing speed and grip. Meanwhile, the volume is distributed in a pleasant manner – historically, the Cube has been known for its friendly volume distribution, but the Cube 6 appears even more user-friendly than before, which not only improves usability, but also early planing and speed retention – especially when combined with its slightly lower overall rocker. The Cube 6 exudes user-friendly vibes while delivering performance that fully engages with the rider when riding on a wave.

BRAND CLAIM

“This 6th generation Cube has received the biggest performance upgrade yet with the new V-Double-Single bottom shape, increasing speed and grip with the same easy to use volume distribution and compact outline to fit into the tightest pocket.”

PERFORMANCE

Stepping onto the Cube 6, you immediately feel like you’re on a longer board… you aren’t, but something about its outline, proportions, and where you stand makes it feel as though you are. The Cube 6 feels comfortable underfoot, and when off the plane, it sits happily and holds its ground well. Getting going on the Cube 6 is easy, with ample space behind the mast foot and a tail extension that makes moving back into the straps feel natural. The straps present themselves to you, so you don’t have to search for them. Holding speed and maintaining pace, the Cube 6 is an efficient machine, quickly accelerating to its ample top speed. Lulls are a thing of the past as the tail extension carries the load through to the next gust, and its bottom shape allows for a lower planing threshold. Transitions are nimble and very much led by the rider with the Cube 6 reacting to the slightest input when you’re back in the straps. The Cube 6 lets you pick your route out to the line-up in both onshore and more classic down-the-line conditions. Its broad planing threshold and tail extension are the Cube 6’s gift to you, allowing you to sit on the crest of a wave well in advance before it’s fully formed, or mere seconds before dropping down the face for your first committed and gouging turn. Bottom turns are smooth, locked in and controlled, while being positive with the back foot allows you to tighten up turns and go vertical at a moment’s notice – even in bolt onshore conditions, which is impressive. The Cube’s natural proportions keep the rig forward, giving the rider plenty of space to move, twist, play, and make the absolute most of the conditions on offer.
