Postcard from Cali
Hello Friends,
Your correspondent is back in California, so expect intermittent service for the next little while…
The above picture is a little windswell spot a few km from where I grew up in Santa Barbara. It’s not the Ranch or Rincon, but when you’re keen for a wave this time of year in Santa Barbara, it can be fun.
I see from the Sydney marine observations that you’ve got south wind blowing from the get-go today. It’s supposed to go easterly later and then be SE tomorrow. but that’s kinda irrelevant given the fact that there appears to be no significant swell. If the weather call has it right, you’re in for paltry prospects for the remainder of the week… and the long range models aren’t looking extra flash either.
Here’s another snap from a windy post-frontal day in Santa Barbara…
Weather Situation
A trough and associated cold front are moving through central areas, with fresh northerly winds to the north and a gusty southerly change to the south. The trough is forecast to stall on the northern coast later today. Winds will gradually shift northerly again through the middle part of the week as a new high pressure system becomes established over the Tasman Sea, before the next southerly change arrives on Thursday or Friday.
