Little Sunday morning waves on tap

0 3

Hello Friends,

High overcast greeted Sydney on Sunday morning, but the wind switched from SE to westerly around 0530 and we still had a 1.7 metre, 10-sec SSE swell delivering waist high waves to Dee Why. As the pictures show, it was kind of lumpy as the tide ran out to the low at 1100.

The Bureau’s marine forecast doesn’t mention the westerly and tells us that we can expect the wind to swing NE and be 15-20 kts by around lunchtime. Swell intensity should remain around the current direction and heights through the day and then tomorrow it’s set to briefly fade back a little, while wind goes northerly. Things look marginal surfwise through midweek, but if you get lucky conditions could be pretty fun on the morning I take off for California. No connection obviously!

Have a great Sunday everyone!

Weather Situation

A high pressure system is expected to move into the Tasman Sea today, maintaining a ridge over eastern parts of the state and bringing a northerly wind shift to most coastal areas during the day, with southeasterlies behind a trough in the north moving out of the area in the early afternoon. A new trough and southerly change are forecast to affect southern waters during Monday, gradually extending through central areas on Tuesday as a low develops over the Tasman Sea, before stalling and decaying on Wednesday.
