Knee to waist high at Dee Why this morning

0 14

Hello Friends,

Another grey morning along the beaches, but the overcast skies are a little brighter than yesterday. Wind was 7-10 kt out of the west at 0830 and the MHL buoy data from 0700 showed 1.2 metres of 10-second NE swell out at sea. That’s translating into small and inconsistent little waist-ish high waves with smooth surface conditions. Given the swell direction there should be better surf options elsewhere, but it is at least surfable at most beaches today.

Tide is currently dropping to the moderate 0.65 m low at 1045. It’ll be back to high at 1730. Weather should be partly cloudy with a 50% chance of a light shower.

Have a top old Friday everyone.

Weather Situation

A low pressure system, currently south of South Australia, will become the dominant feature in the region as it moves slowly east during the next day or two, reaching the Tasman Sea by the weekend. Winds will shift northwesterly over NSW waters during today as a trough and cold front associated with this low approaches, tending fresh to strong west to southwesterly on Saturday. Conditions are expected to ease during Sunday as this system moves away, to be replaced by a new ridge of high pressure.
