Too big for most of us

0 22

Hello Friends,

It was too big this morning for beginners and probably most intermediates at exposed locations (which, given the size, was most places). Watch before you jump in. Open stretches are a write-off, and even places like Dee Why which can handle the size, were seeing unrideable sets.

Swell at sea was close to 4 metres at 13 seconds from the SSE as of 0830. Wind was NW 8-13 kts. Tide was dropping to the 0.5 low at 1115.

Wind should go more westerly and pick up during the day and at the same time the swell should start throttling back so that by tomorrow it’ll be much more approachable. And by week’s end, it could be both rainy and small to marginal.

Stay safe and have a great day.

A low pressure system over the southern Tasman Sea is generating vigorous winds and hazardous surf conditions. Conditions are expected to ease from later today as the low weakens. After this, another low pressure system may develop over the central Tasman Sea.
