Messy on Sunday morning

0 22

Hello Friends,

Managed to grab a few snaps between the showers this morning and as you can see, it’s scrappy and rippy looking at Dee Why this morning. Wind went from south to SSW around daybreak, but the Bureau says it’ll be back to southerly soon. Swell at sea was 2.4 metres at about 8 seconds apart and coming from 174° (dead south).  Not surprisingly given the nearly 50mm of overnight rain, the water quality at most beaches has deteriorated. Beachwatch has posted “pollution is likely” at many beaches. I’d be giving it a pass for now. Going for a surf in that dreck and then ending up with an infection? Yeah, naw.
Surf outlook is for the swell to go more easterly and for the period to stretch out a bit tomorrow and Tuesday, plus the wind call is for lighter wind with a touch of westerly angle for the early. Water quality’s an obvious question mark though… but, look, have yourself a top old Sunday anyway!

Weather Situation

A trough is bringing a fresh southerly change to the southern and central parts of the New South Wales coast today, while a high pressure system over the Tasman Sea extends a ridge towards the northern coast of New South Wales. The change will extend to the northern coast during the day today, as a new high approaches slowly from the west. This pattern will maintain generally southerly winds until Wednesday, when the high is forecast to move to the Tasman Sea and bring a northerly wind shift. The next front is likely to bring a brief westerly change during Thursday or Friday.
