Little lumpfest for Saturday morning
Hello Friends,
The pictures tell the story and the numbers confirm it. I was hoping for a repeat of yesterday morning’s conditions, but there was a steady ESE wind all night and though it dialled back a little at dawn, it was still 8-10 kts. Swell at sea was 1.7 metres and just under 13 seconds from the SE as of 0630, but between the surface conditions and a 1.6 m high tide at 0725, it’s not working out. If you can cope with the choppy, junky conditions there are shoulder plus sets at the magnets (along with the wind).
Given that the forecast is calling for NE wind tomorrow and a continuation of the south-ish swell, I think the morning session could be reasonable in the north corners. Monday is set to be a scorcher with stiffing north wind. The models show the swell fading as the period gets shorter, but again, I’m hopeful that there might be the odd reason to go for a paddle (apart from the heat). The remainder of the week looks pretty marginal, but with luck there should be something in the mornings…
Have a great Saturday!
Weather Situation
A ridge of high pressure and south to southeasterly winds extend along the New South Wales coast. Winds will gradually turning northeasterly through the weekend as a high pressure system moves to the southern Tasman Sea. Northwest to northeasterly winds will strengthen on Monday ahead of a weak southerly change on the south coast later. Another weak southerly change is expected in the south on Tuesday but the winds over the remainder will continue from the northwest to northeast.
