Big and messy Monday morning
Hello Friends,
12-20 kts of southerly under low and rainy skies when I grabbed the snaps a little after 0700. As you can see, there’s size, but the ocean’s a mess. That hasn’t deterred a few keen types at the point this morning giving it a red hot go. Swell kicked up last night just after sundown. As the day gets started the 3 metre, 9-second east swell is dominating, but there’s also a fair old whack of south as well. To say this is a morning for experience riders only, is an understatement. It’s for crazy, experienced riders only.
The extremely messy and junky conditions are set to be with us through tomorrow at a minimum.
Have yourself a good one – and know your limitations!
Weather Situation
A weak trough is situated just to the north of the Queensland border and will continue moving north today, with most coastal areas experiencing fresh to strong southerly winds behind it. Following this, a high pressure system passing to the south during Tuesday and Wednesday is forecast to extend a ridge along the coast, with winds gradually shifting northeast to southeasterly. The pattern is then likely to remain relatively unchanged until the next trough and southerly change on the weekend.
