Marginal summer conditions

0 6

Hello Friends,

(pics up in a bit)

Wind’s been blowing lightly from the NNE all night so this morning saw just slightly textured conditions before 0800. There was still some very long period SSE component (15 sec) showing in the MHL data from 0500 but I’d expect those rogue sets to be very few and very far between, leaving the dominant component a 1 metre ESE wind swell with a gutless 7-sec period. The Bureau has a strong wind warning for our coast today too, so by lunch time the NE’r should be hammering along at 15-25 kts. Go early, take the mal or nearest equivalent and beat the blown out conditions if you can.

First tide of the day was a 1.6 m high at 0705. By the time it drops back to the low at 1400, the wind will be well and truly smashing it.

We should see a high of 30 along the beaches with a mostly sunny day. Water is clean along most of our beaches (some question marks at lagoon entrances) and the temp is still 24.

I’m not seeing too much excitement in the latest forecasts, but let’s see what the Mighty Goat has to say this afternoon…

Go well!

Weather Situation

Winds tending northerly today as a weak low over the Tasman Sea moves away, then will strengthen as a cold front approaches from the west. The front will bring a vigorous westerly change to southern waters on Friday, extending to the north on Saturday. Winds are expected to ease later on the weekend as a new high pressure system becomes dominant in the region.
