The Goat’s Surf Forecast

Surf forecast issued Thursday 29 December 2022: Seven day outlook for Sydney

Hey Kids

Hope you all had a good Chrissy and got all the presents you wanted …to give to family and friends.

As you know, TG’s Surf Forecast has always been so much more than just a surf forecast.

Let me share with you a little pre-cautionary tale, as it is the time of giving>>>

I noticed by touch the shape of a new mole on the back of my shoulder in a hard to see spot maybe hmm a couple or a few weeks ago.. Then it seemed to grow and change shape. The lead up to Chrismas is a busy time so I put off doing anything about it.

The day before yesterday it got itchy – after a couple of Christmas slaps on the back – and I could make out in the mirror the tell tale red circle of infection, so decided a doctor should have a look..now.

TG helpfully suggested a nice vet, but I ignored him.

My excellent doctor had a look and said “I think it’s a tick!”

“No no” said I, who’s had more ticks than breakfasts. “I know how they affect me.”

He had a closer look and said “Yep. The biggest tick I’ve ever seen, waving his little legs around”. So he froze him, extracted him, and thoughtfully gave him to me in a little container.

Later on I reflected on how I’d been the Perfect Host to Tox the Tick..(Yes he has a name as he spent so much time with me)…

I barely disturbed him, as I did not want to aggravate a new mole. He lived off the fat of the land, meals on tap, for how long? ..who knows?

I know he had a few surfs with me, did his annual surf club proficiency swim, went on a couple of bushwalks (I think we met on an earlier one) and had a couple of dips in the ocean..

He had a good life..

Tox did things other ticks could only dream of.

So in time for those New Year Resolutions, and in memory of Tox…

Check out moles as soon as they appear.
