Smooth and swell on Tuesday morning

0 25

Hello Friends,

Another gloomy start to proceedings, but at least the wind wasn’t an issue early and there were still a few chest to head high sets at the magnets.  Swell is still SSE and a couple of metres at 9 seconds apart. Tide was high at 0620 which, along with the sub-10 sec period, meant that the waves had a slowish, fat look to them. Despite the showers of the last few days, Beachwatch reports that everywhere along the Northern Beaches has good water quality. The 20C ocean temps means that the majority of people are still in their steamers. The most surf options I saw were at Manly where multiple peak complexes were in operation from mid-Steyne to Queensie. Around at Curly there were a few people up in the north corner, but the rest of the beach looked empty. At Dee Why all the action was in the south corner along with the occasional set at the point.

The southerly will gradually build, so the earlier you get/got in, the better. Tomorrow might possibly have a few scraps left, but the swell is on the fade and it still looks as though things will be pretty quiet until late next week when the models indicate a slight bump up (but with southerlies).

Go well everyone and have a great day.

A high pressure system centred to the southwest of Tasmania extends a ridge along the New South Wales coast, while a low lies over the southern Tasman Sea. This pattern is directing fresh to strong southerly winds along the coast. Winds are expected to ease and gradually shift northeasterly on Wednesday and Thursday as the high reaches the Tasman Sea and a trough approaches from the west.
