Showery grey Sunday with some waves early

0 25

Hello Friends,

Leisurely start for your correspondent. Wandered down to look at the point around 0840 and discovered only a few in the water there, but heaps more over in the peaks just north of the club. Weather was intermittently showery, but the wind was still out to sea, so surface conditions were smooth. Sets at the point were in the chest plus range while I watched and probably in the head high range for the crew surfing the beachies. It wasn’t as consistent as yesterday, but the waits weren’t too long either.

Offshore, the 2.7 metre swell was coming from 149°  at 9 seconds apart. Tide was low at 1040 and will be back to the high at 1640.  Wind was SW 10-15 kts as of 0930, but it’ll go southerly soon according to the Bureau.

Swell’s supposed to perk up a little tomorrow, but the wind regime is shaping to be southerly through Tuesday. So maybe check early to beat the worst of it. Wednesday am might have a little something but overall the trend is toward short period and smaller for the rest of the week. With luck a more easterly tilt to the direction will give us at least something to play with.

Go well every one!

Up and riding, 0845

Weather Situation

A high pressure system centred to the south of the Bight extends a ridge into western New South Wales, while a low lies over the southern Tasman Sea, directing fresh southerly winds along the coast. Winds are expected to gradually ease as the low weakens and moves away to the east over the coming days. Winds are then forecast to gradually shift northeasterly by the middle of the week as the high reaches the southern Tasman Sea.
